Thessaloniki: Seven municipalities are closed today kindergartens

Enclosed you will stay, Thursday 31 March 2016, the municipal crèches and kindergartens of the municipality of Neapoli-Sykies…
as to other six municipalities of the prefecture of Thessaloniki, in protest for the tragic delay shown by the government in the financing of the project “Harmonization of professional and family life”.
For the same reason, the mayors of seven municipalities of the prefecture of Thessaloniki, facing a strong problem in the operation of childcare facilities, in the Centres for the Creative occupation of Children (ΚΔΑΠ) and the ΚΔΑΠμεΑ, took a first initiative to protest the ongoing dramatic situation which mainly affects the families and the society. In this context, the mayors of the municipalities of Neapoli-Sykies, Thermi, Delta, Oreokastro, Pavlou Mela str, Lagadas and Kordelio-Evosmos, along with the employees and the administrations of the municipal kindergartens, Centres for Creative occupation of Children (ΚΔΑΠ) and the Centers for the Creative occupation of Children with Disabilities (ΚΔΑΠμεΑ) of those municipalities, carry out tomorrow, Thursday, March 31, at 10 in the morning gathering and a show of protest to the ministry of Macedonia-Thrace.
Expected evolution
As noted by the mayor of Neapoli-Sykies Simos Daniilidis in his letter sent to parents of children who are hosted in early and childhood structures of the municipality, “the critical municipal structures, which operate under the responsibility of the municipalities or legal persons, devalued through a series of policy options and practices, to the extent that it led to bankruptcy and the padlock, passing first from the stage of the stasis and the deterioration of services”.
Be noted that while the program began in September of 2015, having already completed 60% of the school year, to date has paid only 10% of the total funding, despite the announcements and assurances of the government, with the result that the workers remain unpaid for months and the municipal structures to cope with a problem of shortages in goods.
“When you could’ve denounced that the change in the flow of financing of the structures (with the first installment to be paid after the implementation of the 30% of the project instead of 10% applied), would cause a series of problems in the smooth functioning and implementation of the programme, none of the competent ministers of the government tended ευήκοα ears. On the contrary, in fact, were accused of scaremongering and apocalyptic doom. And lo and behold. We are now in a tragic confirmation our since due to the very long delay in the financing of municipalities and legal persons the critical social structures of childcare facilities, the ΚΔΑΠ and ΚΔΑΠμεΑ fail to meet the mission with unpaid workers and shortages of essential goods”, states, inter alia, the In.Daniilidis in the informational letter to the parents.
Requests
“Even now, at the last moment, before there was an explosion of the problem, the government should and can provide a solution by paying the amounts corresponding to the up to now implementation of the project. Otherwise you’ll have to be prepared to reap the whirlwind when stopping the municipalities to provide the critical and sensitive services to families and children, when hundreds of workers added to the lists of unemployment”, stresses the mayor of Neapoli-Sykies, calling on the government to meet directly the demands of the Local Government, which is:
1. The smooth flow of financing of the programme “Harmonisation of Professional and Family life”,
2. The immediate payment of the whole of the first instalment of the programme for 2015-2016, including the department of national resources,
3. The timely payment of the second instalment in the immediate period of time,
4. The incorporation of the proposals of KEDE in the notice of the programme for the period 2016-17.
