Spain: Ready for retreats against the Socialist Podemos

The leader of the enemy to austerity, left-wing party Podemos, Pablo Iglesias… stressed on Wednesday that he is ready to make concessions, among them not to take the same government’s position, in order to facilitate a centre-left coalition under the Socialist Labour Party of Spain (PSOE).
“If, in order to obtain a progressive alliance in Spain, my presence in the government is a problem for the Socialists, I’m ready to step aside and not to take a government position”, said mr. Iglesias, after meeting with the socialist leader, Pedro Sánchez.
“There are no more excuses. We showed in practice that we can do retreats. In politics, it is good to know when to back down and now it is the turn of the PSOE,” he concluded.
