In what kind of women is addressed to the Counseling Center and what services do you offer?
The P.K. Patra provides free counseling services to support women victims of violence, and those suffering multiple discrimination (unemployed, single parents, immigrants etc.e.) by a qualified staff consisting of consultant reception/administrative staff, legal, psychologist, social worker, and counselor employment.
What is the most common form of violence?
There is no ordinary form of violence. We have faced all forms of violence in the Centre whether this be physical, psychological, verbal or economic, as well as cases of sexual harassment. The most difficult form of violence at the level of proof, however, is the psychological.
How many cases do you have approximately?
We have an average of 15 to 20 new slots every month the Counseling Center of Patras.
Who’s your role in service?
As a lawyer of the Centre provide women counseling services related to the legal piece. Give information and information about their rights, relevant laws and the required procedures for the submission of a complaint, complaint, injunction, probation, divorce. Also, the women informed and referred to the territorially competent Courts of first instance for appointment of lawyers, making use of legal aid for citizens of low-income, something that most of the cases is not known and is a springboard for a woman to proceed legally.
Working together with other bodies?
The Counseling Center works in conjunction with the nationwide telephone line SOS 15900 of ΓΓΙΦ (in a 24-hour basis, 365 days of the year), the 39 Advisory Centres across the country and the nineteen hostels hosting for abused women and their children of the Municipalities and the two hostels hosting of the MARKER (National Centre for Social Solidarity).
What kind of message you want to send to women who may hesitate to turn on you?
The message that I would like to send to each woman individually that there is any form of violence, whether in marriage or just in any relationship whether it is friendly or relational, is to think that you are not alone and it’s not the only one who passes. Be aware that there are the appropriate structures at the Greece, with qualified staff that can provide even the first step, the boost you’ll need to break the silence and to move forward. Finally, to add that all the above mentioned services are covered by the confidentiality of the counseling.
