Hamas hostage talks about her horrible sexual abuse in Gaza

A woman from being her hostage during the October 7 bloody attack revealed that she was sexually abused and tortured in Gaza by men of the Islamist Palestinian organization for 55 whole days she was held captive. Amit Susana, 40, is the first Israeli hostage to speak publicly about the abuse she suffered from Hamas, which began just days after 10 men violently removed her from her home in Kibutz Kfar Aza, about 2.5 km from the Gaza border. “He came towards me and put the gun to my head,” Susana told the New York Times in a report published on Tuesday (26.03.2024). Around October 24, the guard, who called himself “Mohammed”, attacked her. Early that morning, he said, Muhammad unlocked her chain and left her in the bathroom. After undressing and starting washing in the bathtub, Muhammad returned and stood at the door, holding a pistol. After hitting her and making her take off her towel, Muhammad touched her, sat her on the edge of the bathtub and hit her again, he said. He dragged her at gunpoint back to the nursery. “Then, with the gun pointed at me, she forced me to perform a sexual act,” she describes. Susana’s custody was originally assigned to a single man, who began sexually harassing her. Mohammad, who the Israeli describes as a fat man with sparse hair and wide nose, often sat next to her in bed, lifted up her shirt and caressed her. He slept in a separate room, often entered hers wearing only his underwear, asked her about her love life and suggested that she give her a massage. As explained by the New York Times the 40-year-old lawyer, for a time tried to discourage her abuser by lying about her period. “Every day he asked: “Did you get a period? Did you get your period? When it comes to you and it’s over, then you’ll wash, shower and change your clothes,” Susana told the New York Times. On the morning of the sex attack, Mohammad insisted on taking a shower even though she protested that the water was frozen. A few minutes later and while he was washing, he heard his voice… “I turned around and saw him standing and staring at me holding the gun”. This is astounding. According to Susana’s testimony, Mohammed forced her to perform a sexual act, which is not explained in the NYT report. After abuse ended, Mohammad begged her “not to tell Israel”. Then he offered her food to… make amends when she refused to become vindictive again and kept her in the dark, refusing to open the window until he accepted his offer. “You can’t stand looking at him, but you have to. It’s your guard who’s supposed to be guarding you. You’re with him and you know it can happen again at any time. You are fully dependent on him,” says the woman today. A few days later Susana was transferred to another hiding place, away from Mohammad. In the weeks that followed she was beaten by various guards, while she was taken from one place to another. In one of these incidents, a group of men tied her legs and hands and hung her in the vacuum between two sofas, hitting her. The 40-year-old lawyer was finally released on November 30, along with 105 other hostages, during a ceasefire. The woman denounced her sexual abuse to the Israeli authorities a few days after her release and has since not changed the details of her descriptions. A Hamas spokesman tried to raise doubts about the woman’s complaint, saying she may have been motivated by Israeli army officials. “For us the human body, in particular that of the woman, is sacred,” Bashem Naim noted, stressing that Hamas’ religious beliefs “prohibit the bad treatment of any man, regardless of gender, religion or nationality”.
