Eurostat: A rising economic climate in Greece in March – A decline in retail trade and construction

It was moved up to Greece in March, according to research data published by the European Statistical Office ( ) on Wednesday (27.3.2024) for EU Member States. Eurostat, with regard to Greece, has experienced an increase in the economic climate of 3.5 units, from 104.9 points last month to 104.4 points in March. ‘Black points’ in Eurostat’s report was the retail trade which marked a ‘downside’ from 17.6 points to 3.1 points. Secondly, and the Construction industry experienced a lower decline than 9.1 points at 8.9 points. The above negative performance falls in terms of the climate prevailing in the above sectors were offset by a ‘jump’ industry from -4.2 units to a positive 4.8 units, a rise in services from 37.2 units to 39.2 units, and an improvement in the consumer climate which however remains in deep negative soil (from -47.2 units to -44.7 units). Finally, in March, the economic climate index was strengthened in both the EU (+0.7 units in 96.2 units) and the euro area (+0.8 units in 96.3 units).
