Contra in the House of Tzanakopoulos – Florides for the prosecutorial proposal for Kolonos

Tough fight between government and opposition in plenary over the prosecutor’s proposal yesterday (13/3/2024) in the trial for the 12-year-old case to discharge the main accused Elias Mihu for the offence of rape of the minor girl and pimpling. The New Left MP Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, speaking in Parliament, commented that the specific proposal to exempt Micho for the rape of the 12-year-old woman in Kolonos, is “a breach of justice with society. Anyone who has money falls into softness.” The Minister of Justice said that “the trial is held behind closed doors, there is no information. The proposal of the District Attorney was made public. We all ignore what happened in the hall. Elementary respect for Justice requires that we wait for the extradition of the court order” and attacked SYRIZA who wanted to turn, in 2019, a week before the House closed for the national elections, the offence of misdemeanor rape into a felony. Noting that he did not go through thanks to the reactions that were even made by SYRIZA Members. Dimitris Tzanakopoulos dialogue: You’re lying! George Florides: So you wanted rapists to remain unpunished. Your Members and the reactions of society have prevented it and you have taken it back. This was your care for juvenile rape victims, you reduced the sentence limit to 15 out of 20 years. Now he can go to life imprisonment. Dimitris Tzanakopoulos: Tell Miho these, not us. Shame on you! George Florides: Call out all you want! Here are the papers. The statements of the MPs of Syriza, they set you up on the stand. There is an institutional memory in the place. Mr. Tzanakopoulos accused the Minister of Justice of being possessed by the “genitarism syndrome” and that “you are a government propagandist. Shame on lying like that. You’re a common slanderer. Shame you are Minister of Justice”, while the MP of SYRIZA Alexander Avlonitis, who took the floor, accused Mr. Florides of distorting reality. The parliamentary representative of the ND, Thanos Plyris, in high tons responded to SYRIZA and New Left, blaming them that when they were in the government they turned heavy felonies into misdemeanors and raised the infantile nature of rape from 12 to 24 years of age. Velopoulos Attack The president of the Greek Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos attacked the government for the prosecutorial proposal in the Sepulia trial wanting to “cover” his internal party problems, which forced him to replace as a special speaker of Paul Sarakis’ party with Stelios Fotopoulos, because the first one told the Commission “retention” and allegedly did not want to vote against the bill. Mr Velopoulos, overcoming every barrier to discrimination of powers, called on the Minister of Justice to intervene in the trial and declare in plenary whether he would agree with the prosecutor’s proposal! Mr. Florides replied to him that no favoured State is allowed to express its personal views or interfere with the decisions, judgments and procedures of the award of justice.
