Open today, Monday 1 April, the platform for submitting them for financial assistance of EUR 150 to young people who have completed either the 18th year or the 19th year of their age from 1.1.2023 to 31.12.2023. The deadline for submission of applications for the new Youth Pass is 15 May and 31 May the credit to beneficiaries. Responsible for the design and implementation of Youth Pass are the Ministers of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, Interior Niki Kerameos, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and the State Secretary for National Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias, according to the Joint Ministerial Decision (EFK B’ 5420/14.09.2023). The aid shall be credited in the form of a digital debit card, to be sent to credit institutions by Friday 31 May. It is noted that there may be a delay of 1 – 2 working days until the beneficiaries receive the aid. They will then be able to use it in businesses active in the fields of culture, tourism and transport. During the first year of implementation of the programme, by the end of 2023, some 140,000 young people received aid totalling almost EUR 21 million. It is recalled that Youth Pass is a permanent measure to strengthen young people. In this context, the special application will accept the requests made by interested parties from 1 April to 15 May each year. The aid for all beneficiaries will be paid once a year by 31 May each year. Beneficiaries of Youth Pass are: tax residents of Greece, who have completed their 18th or 19th year of age within the previous year since the application and apply to the platform. It is stressed that there are no assets or income criteria. The application shall be submitted once and shall not be submitted after the 19th year of the age of the beneficiary. However, if for any reason, a young person does not submit his application when he is 18, he may do so when he is 19 years old, taking the aid only for the second year rather than retroactively. Credit procedure After the application has been submitted, the credit institution or financial institution shall inform the beneficiary of the first activation of the card and the crediting of the money via a written message (sms) or e-mail (e-mail) with an integrated link to activate the digital debit card. The beneficiaries can then take advantage of the aid they will receive for making purchases or receiving services from businesses operating in the tourism sectors (e.g. in tourist accommodation), culture (e.g. for watching theatre performances or concerts, buying books etc.) and transport (tax, buses, trains, ferry tickets, or renting IX or leisure boats etc.). Youth Pass action is implemented by the Information Society (M.A.E.) as part of the National Recovery and Durability Plan Greece 2.0 with the funding of the European Union – NextGenerationEU. The development of the platform was carried out by the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (S.A. – GRNET), a supervised body of the Ministry of Digital Governance, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance. The FVO is attached, including the CDCs of undertakings in which beneficiaries can benefit from the financial assistance they receive.
