With cards they buy more drugs the Greeks

The use of debit and…
credit card for the purchase of medicines from pharmacies, has significantly increased from the summer of 2015 imposed the capital controls.
As pointed out in the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki (ΦΣΘ), patients visiting the pharmacies now use primarily debit and credit cards for payment, as well as, the pharmacists had sourced earlier terminal devices POS, so I don’t find it difficult no patient to obtain the medication.
In accordance with the ΦΣΘ, the use of debit and credit cards is projected to increase further in the future, mainly due to the recent legislative initiatives of the government, but also due to the respective initiatives of the European Union and its Institutions, for the strengthening of the single market and the use of electronic means of payment.
The ΦΣΘ in a letter to five large banks (Piraeus, National, ALPHA, Eurobank, piraeus, and ATTICA) calls for the reduction of the cost of supply received by banking institutions for the total of transactions made with debit and credit cards through the POS devices.
While proposing, the supply, which today exceeds 0.8%, to be reduced to 0.4% or less. Asking, still, the reduction in the cost of management and maintenance of these devices whether it is to buy or rent a terminal device, POS, in order to become viable and efficient conservation and use of POS.
“The combination of the ever-increasing number of transactions with debit and credit cards, and the high commissions levied by the banks and the high cost of the maintenance and use of terminal devices POS has as result a significant loss of income for pharmacists, and a worsening of the already difficult economic situation”, stresses, in his letter, the ΦΣΘ. It adds that the continuing price reductions of medicines, the growing tax and insurance obligations and the exponentially decreasing income of the citizens will create a significant burden on the industry.
“Because of the growing acceptance of payments by debit and credit cards, a new cause of loss of revenue arises for pharmacists”, underlines the ΦΣΘ.
