Weather: The hottest Spring of the last 14 years, with 32 degrees in Crete and African dust

We may still be calendarly in March, but – especially today, 27/3/24- really reminds the summer. In fact, combined with the fact that in the last 24 hours it has spread its veil over the country, the atmosphere sometimes becomes stifling. Impressive are Meteo’s elements of weather and maximum temperatures, creating explosive cocktails along with African dust. Today, 27/3/24, as you can see in the table below, the thermometer in 4 areas of Chania exceeded 32 degrees Celsius! The highest temperature for the season for 14 years! According to observations from the network of automatic weather stations of meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens, the maximum temperature on Wednesday (27/3/2024) reached 32.6 degrees Celsius in areas of Northern Crete. This price was recorded at the weather station in Alikian Chania and is the highest since 2010 , the year in which several stations of meteo.gr were already operating in Crete. The immediately preceding maximum prices on the island were 30.1 points in Falassarna and Vries Chania on 31/03/2010. The following table shows the 8 stations of the network of automatic weather stations of meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens that recorded the highest temperatures on Wednesday 27/03. When will the atmosphere clear from dust As John Callianos told Livenews “until tomorrow (28/3/24) at noon, weather conditions favour this continuous transportation of dust from North Africa… The vulnerable groups should be careful.” “Then we will have South again the weekend when the temperature will rise again and dust will come back,” Giannis Kallianos added.
