In view of the Halloween and Clean Monday celebration, during March 15 to 18, police have planned increased road safety measures. The aim is to secure the movement of citizens and to prevent traffic accidents. The design was carried out on the basis of the Strategic Planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters for full and continuous activity of all Traffic Services. The main points of the design include: * policing of the road network by sector, on the basis of the specific traffic conditions of each area, * increased police presence and enhanced policing of road traffic points, where there is a frequency of road accidents, * increased traffic police measures at the entrance-exit of large urban centres, where there is a large traffic traffic traffic, * regulation of traffic with pedestrian traffic, in key crossings, to avoid traffic congestion, * traffic arrangements at places to be held to facilitate traffic, * increased traffic measures in areas where there is mass traffic (airports, stations, etc.), * traffic arrangements at places to celebrate, * presence of traffic barriers at the National Road Stations to facilitate traffic, information and advice to drivers and passengers and * public information via the Press Offices, in any case where there is a need for widespread public information on the existence of other traffic and problems. At the same time, the design provides for the establishment of workshops for specific road traffic control, at alternate points on the road network, focusing, inter alia, on the attestation of dangerous offences, as well as on the basis of statistical data responsible for causing serious traffic accidents, such as: * driving under the influence of alcohol, * speeding, * using a mobile phone while driving, * not using protective helmets – seat belt, * irregular bypasses and double line crossings, etc., * not using special restraint and protection devices such as seats, safety belts, etc., when transporting children with vehicles, * driving vehicles from minors and persons without a driving licence, * driving for demonstration of competence, * vehicle traffic, which have not been subject to regular or exceptional technical control within the prescribed period, * worn tires and * irregular movement of vehicles in the Emergency Strip (LA). Throughout the implementation of the measures, they will be in increased operational readiness, both the staff and the means of the Greek Police, especially the Police Traffic Services. In particular, patrol cars, motorcycles and conventional vehicles will be available, with the corresponding personnel and equipment to effectively police the country’s road network. Prohibition of the movement of trucks of a benefit charge exceeding 3.5 tonnes For the safer movement of vehicles and the improvement of road traffic during the Halloween and Clean Monday holidays, in addition to traffic facilitation measures taken at local level, a ban on the movement of trucks with a payload of more than 3.5 tonnes on national roads will apply.
