Themistocleus: From 1 April referrals for private sector examinations will be charged

As of April 1st, exams in the private sector will be charged, according to the Deputy Minister of Health. As Marios Themistocleus said on Wednesday morning (13.03.24) to SKAI, referrals of blood tests will be charged 1 euro and for radiological examinations 3 euros. “This is because after the pandemic there was a large reduction in diagnostic tests on public structures, which is continuing and now that the coronavirus is finished,” said Mr. Themistocleus. “We want to reinstate diagnostic tests in public structures” the Deputy Minister of Health explained about the measure. “Anyone who goes to public hospitals for exams will be zero,” the deputy minister said. With regard to complaints of staff shortages and waiting lists in the NSS afternoon surgery, Mr. Themistocleus replied: “The staff (hospital staff – paramedical staff) are sufficient. Hospitals themselves confirmed and responded positively when asked. The measure premiered yesterday and 18 months from today we expect a significant reduction in waiting. “
