The Region of Western Greece honored the Samaritans Volunteer for their significant contribution and in this year’s edition of the Carnival

Honorary Commendation awarded the vice-governor of Achaia, Grigoris Alexopoulos in the… Samaritans Volunteer, Rescuers and Lifeguards Regional Department of Patras of the Greek Red Cross, in recognition for his significant contribution, as well as for the 34th consecutive year, this year, had responsibility for the Health and Διασωστικής coverage of the Carnival 2016.
Today in his office Met was found detachment of the Body and the Commendation received by the Chief Andriana Φιλοπούλου.
“The Samaritans Volunteer once again offered their valuable services during the events of the Carnival 2016, providing immediate on-site assistance where required, until the early hours, with bad weather and a number of incidents. The high level of service that I know that offered these days, but the overall action of the Body in our area, especially if you think about volunteers, they honor their Volunteers, Samaritans, and the Region feels gratitude towards them and will support in any way they can this contribution,” noted the vice governor of Achaia, Gr. Alexopoulos.
From the side, the lady Φιλοπούλου thanked the Met for the Honorary Distinction and said that the House will continue to offer services to the citizens, with a high sense of responsibility and willingness to offer.
To mention that in view of the culmination of events of a larger nationwide cultural institution, there was an immediate and effective response to incidents, during the “Night Parade” on Saturday 12 March, in the “Big Parade” Sunday 13 March, as well as during the closing ceremony of the event on Sunday night.
Set up a force of about 130 Volunteers per day, distributed throughout the length of the parade and the points of concentration of participants and spectators and with the use of ambulance and vehicle equipment rescue, and lifeguard boat with the crew and team of Lifeguards during the closing ceremony.
The Body also established a full Health Station, staffed by Volunteers from Samaritans with specialties of Doctors and Nurses, and Special Operations Center, and Telecommunications, to better coordinate the work of Volunteers and dealing with emergency incidents.
