The meeting was held in the framework of compliance with the Pact of Friendly Relations and Cooperation signed between the Region of Crete and of the Province of Canton for the enlargement of cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade and handicraft-industry.
The vice governor of Crete, the primary sector Theano Î’ÏÎντζου ΣκοÏδαλάκη welcoming of the Chinese officials of the province of Canton, numbering 100 million. residents, made an extensive presentation of the island in the sectors of primary sector, of the Cretan Diet, tourism, history, culture-tradition, while he made particular reference to the unique climatic conditions-the nature of Crete.
The lieutenant governor of Canton YUAN Baocheng from the side, expressed his warmest thanks for the hospitality on the island, pointing out his admiration for their archaeological treasures, history, culture, nature, and made special reference to the exceptional, as he said, quality oil and wine produced by the island of Crete as well as for the unique tourist product. Mr. YUAN Baocheng said, that the Chinese are consuming wine, and know the excellent quality of the Cretan olive oil and wine that excel in quality of their respective competing products in Italy, Spain and France.
He even added, that, of the 100 ec. of the inhabitants of the province of Canton, the 60% has a high standard of living and, indeed, on an annual basis about $ 50 million. make their holidays outside China.
