Three more days remain for the activation of POS from the last 35 branches of the economy that were not required until now to have terminals. Since next Monday, those professionals who refuse to accept card payments or have not installed the automatic machines are threatened with heavy fines reaching 1,500 euros, ERT recalls. Consumers will be able to use their card everywhere for all transactions whether they are purchases of goods or services. They can use it in taxis, stands, convenience stores, grocery stores, folk markets, festivals, theatres, cinemas, real estate offices even at universities or IEKs. The fine of EUR 1,500 imposed for non-POS installation shall be reduced by 50% where: The debtor shall, within 30 days of the date of notification to him of the act concerned and in any event before the appeal is brought, pay the fine.
