Olga Kefalogianni for Minos Matsa: He’s an excellent father, and he helps me carry on my work.

She was on the show of Eleonora Study, and on the occasion of the Women Political Leaders Athens Summit 2024 she spoke about her marriage to him, about her role as mother, professional and gender equality. The Minister of Tourism referred to Women Political Leaders Athens Summit 2024, which began on 19 March and concluded today (21.03.2024) and stressed the importance of the Accompanying Summit. Eleonora’s invited Study on the show “MEGA Good morning”, Olga Kefalogianni spoke with tender words about her husband, Minos Matsa and how the two operate as professionals, parents and couples. “The issue of motherhood was something I really wanted, it had not happened to me and I had made it up. It’s a huge gift given to me, I feel blessed and it’s the most beautiful role of my life. Any woman who wants to have children who does not succeed feels disappointed. My message to all women is if you really want to be a mother, it’s worth trying. Now there are the means, which is why I have spoken openly about in vitro fertilization,” Olga Kefalogianni said about motherhood. As for her husband? “He’s an excellent father and he’s very helpful in continuing my own action. I never thought about giving up. Now I have even greater mood and strength to make change.” With regard to the summit and the choice to take place in Athens, the Minister of Tourism said: “It is very important that they chose Athens for this year’s Session. We have women from 57 countries from the five continents and there is debate about the position of women in the world today. The demands, challenges are the same and it is important that there are women everywhere, in positions of responsibility, and they have the power to give other women the opportunity to move forward. Women enjoy 2/3 of the rights on the planet. Internationally there is the issue of race equality and very strong is the issue of equal representation of women in the public. I won’t hide that a woman today has an even harder path to walk than the one her male colleague has in the corresponding position. I’ve seen the question as a lawyer. In my first steps in law I felt that stereotypes about what can and how far a woman can reach her career were dominant, I have heard phrases I do not want to repeat. In this a progress has been made.” And he continues: “In politics things are even harder. The issue of verbal violence in general for women in politics has been a concern. The most important thing is to give encouragement to younger people to pursue their dreams.” “There is no doubt too much room for improvement, too many steps have been taken in recent years and legislation and society is slowly breaking down some stereotypes. The pandemic affected women much more, unfortunately we saw an increase in domestic violence, leaving their jobs to care for the home, the family. We have lost years over how long it will take to achieve equality,” he said. By closing her interview, the Minister of Tourism also made an assessment of how tourism will move in the country this year. “After a year of record, they give messages that in 2024 it will also be an excellent year for tourism. We need to do a lot of things to ensure that we have sustainable tourism.”
