Mytilineos – Karatzi Group: They signed ‘green’ PPA of 210MW

Long-term bilaterals (PPA) were signed by Energy & Metals and Karatzis Group to produce and absorb ‘green’ energy of a total capacity of 210 MW from the PV power portfolio under construction 262 MW. Under this bilateral agreement, Mytilineos will be able to use 80% of the energy produced, strengthening its ‘green’ supply portfolio. This portfolio consists of 35 photovoltaic projects located in Larissa Prefecture. The projects, with a total budget of 180m euros, have been fully developed by Karatzis Group as a strategic investment and their construction has been entrusted to M Renewables, internationally recognized as a leading integrated developer, with emphasis on sustainable development, environmental protection and investment in local communities where it operates. All photovoltaic parks are expected to enter into operation by the third quarter of 2024 and according to the PPA are expected to produce an annual 380 GWh, equivalent to 97,000 households consumption in Greece, replacing about 162.000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Mytilineos, as part of its strategy, seeks opportunities to ensure ‘green’ PPAs, with the aim of reducing energy costs for both its assets and those of its business partners. This transaction further strengthens its sustainable approach to energy supply, aiming to blend renewable PPAs with either third parties or with own assets. Karatzi Group strengthens and expands its “green” energy portfolio accordingly, actively investing in renewable energy and battery storage systems projects. This is the second PPA in Greece for Mytilineos, after the agreement with EDP Renewables in February 2023, while the company constantly ensures PPAs for its international portfolio with reliable partners.
