Maintenance and rehabilitation of the I.N. All Saints Monument 62 Martyrs

The Mayor was accompanied by the former deputy Mayor of Heraklion Manolis Vassilakis, who has produced a free study and has also undertaken free of charge supervision of work – in cooperation with the engineers of the competent service of the Municipality – the former Member of parliament Costas Badouvas, which has undertaken the financing of all operations and service managers.
The aim of the Municipal Authority is to have completed the work by June 26, the day event will be held in honor and memory for the 62 Witnesses.
It is recalled that the.N. All Saints is one of the most important historical monuments of our country, which was built to commemorate the sacrifice of the eminent our compatriots who were executed by the germans in June 1942 and in the monumental space, are kept the bones of the 62 Heroes.
The Mayor Kostas Μαμουλάκης in a statement stressed: “The work is proceeding in accordance with our planning and, very soon, this important monument of our country will has been preserved and fully restored. The 7 decades that have passed since the erection of the Temple – Monument of 62 Witnesses, had brought about a significant deterioration in the structural materials of the monument, wear and tear in the long run, was a liability even for the static adequacy of the Church. With these tasks, this risk is eliminated and the fact that it can only fills us with satisfaction.
