Israel v Guterres: UN Anti-Semitic Organization

Israel Katz, his foreign minister called the UN a “anti-Israeli organisation”, following his visit to Gaza. Antonio Guterres appealed to Israel for “direct humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza, which made Israel Katz furious. “Under his address, the UN has become an anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli organization providing shelter and encouraging terrorism,” Katz writes on his Twitter account. “UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres came today from the Egyptian side of Rafa’s passage and accused Israel of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, without in any way condemning Hamas terrorists looting humanitarian aid,” the Israeli official accused. This is a new episode in the recurring tensions between Israel and the United Nations. After five and a half months of war that plunged the Gaza Strip into a humanitarian situation disastrous, Guterres went today to the Egyptian side of Rafa, a city located between the Palestinian enclave and Egypt. Guterres stressed that he went there to draw attention to the “pain” of Gazans, who live “a nightmare without end”. “Nothing justifies Hamas’ terrible attacks on October 7. And nothing justifies the collective punishment suffered by the Palestinian people. Now more than ever, it is time for immediate humanitarian ceasefire,” he stressed.
