iSmart: Technological solutions for children with dyslexia

The application that was presented helps children aged 9-12 in the school and in the improvement of the educational process without…
inclusive.
The final meeting of the “Smart Technology Solutions for Children with Dyslexia – project iSmart” was held in Modena, from 21 to 24 September 2016 during the 5th European Conference on Dyslexia of the European Dyslexia Association (EDA). The purpose of this Conference (EDA) promote the exchange of information and good practices between the various european countries, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities and inclusion at school, at work and in society for people with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
During the conference, the partners presented the final results of the project carried out from 2013 to 2016, both as a research lab, with 70 attendees, but also through an exhibition stand where there were presentations on a regular basis to the interested participants of the conference.
The results of the project have resulted in a technological solution for children between the ages of 9 and 12, which helps them both in school and at home. The app works on Android and Windows phones and tablets, while the school, teachers and parents can check the work in any computer with an Internet browser. The pilot implementation in 3 countries gave positive results by making smaller the gap between the δυσλεκτικών children and others, and having thus an overall improvement of inclusive education for all.
The total interest on the iSmart was overwhelming and that bodes well for the future of the technological solutions after the lifetime of the project. The iSmart will continue to improve thanks to the feedback gained from the pilot implementation and future versions which is already in progress.
