Very constructive meetings on the strengthening of cooperation between Greece and Russia in tourism was the If. Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, mrs. Elena Kountoura with the deputy minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, ms. Alla Υurievna Manilova and the head of the Federal Tourism Agency of Russia Rostourism, mr. Oleg Safonov.
It was agreed that the conduct in Athens next May Greek-Russian tourism forum and conference on the religious-pilgrimage tourism, with the participation of governmental and regional tour operators of Russia, TourOperators and Russian SMES and their representatives and stakeholders in Greece in order to enhance the tourist stream between the two countries.
The meetings were held in the framework of the International Exhibition of Tourism of Moscow, MITT, and with the presence of the Secretary-General of the GNTO, mr. Dimitris Τρυφωνόπουλου, where the EOT is participating with a booth, and Greece has this year enhanced presence.
Confirmed the strong appeal of Greece to the Russians who consistently choose in the first positions in their preferences for their holidays and they expressed their support and confidence in Greek tourism and the significant prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
The meetings discussed the details of the conduct of the Greek-Russian forum on tourism for the strategic planning, organization and promotion of tourist flow of Russia to Greece, with emphasis on the promotion of new tourism products, new destinations and the thematic forms of tourism.
In a meeting with mrs. Manilova, was discussed in addition to the organization of the planned conference for the promotion of religious-pilgrimage tourism, which joins the common spiritual and Orthodox roots of the two peoples.
In the meeting with mr. Safonov, confirmed the excellent and friendly relations of cooperation and reviewed the prospects for the maximisation of flows of Russian tourists in Greece, the elongation of the tourist season and enrich it with new forms of tourism and new destinations in greece.
In both meetings, the emphasis in this year’s celebration of the year, Greece and Russia and discussed extensively the dedicatory events and activities that will take place in both countries throughout the 2016.
