First communication Biden – Netanyahu for Gaza Strip after a month

He had telephone communication with Israel’s prime minister and discussed the situation in Rafa and efforts to increase humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. The call was the first between Biden and Netanyahu since February 15 and has been taking place at the time when tension between Israel and the US is growing due to Netanyahu’s management of the Gaza war. “President Biden talked with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the latest developments in Israel and Gaza, including the situation in Rafa and efforts to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza,” the White House announced. Speaking Thursday, Senate President Chuck Schumer, Israel’s staunch supporter and the most high-ranking Jewish elected official, called for a new election in Israel stating that Netanyahu is an obstacle to peace. Joe Biden supported Summer’s placement the next day saying it echoes many Americans’ concerns. Netanyahu responded to a severe tone yesterday stating in an interview with CNN that Sumer’s interview was “completely inappropriate”. The Israeli Prime Minister reiterated during a cabinet meeting yesterday that Israeli forces would attack Rafa, the last “safe” enclave of the Gaza Strip, despite international pressure on Israel to avoid further casualties among civilians.
