EUR 15.2 million was paid for first aid to farmers and farmers in Thessaly

The implementation of the second cycle of first aid to its areas affected by the disasters of September 2023, which mainly concerns agricultural holdings and livestock farms, continues, in a context of close cooperation with the regions, as the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection points out, in its communication. Yesterday (30.3.2024), a new payment of the second cycle of first aid – the additional grant of up to 10,000 euros – to 480 rural areas – affected by the floods – in Thessaly and livestock farms totaling 2,435,000 euros. These are, in particular, farmers and breeders of Thessaly and, in particular, of the Regional Units of Larissa, Magnesia and Karditsa, following the cross-referenced data received by the General Secretariat of Restoration of Natural Disasters and State Aid from the Region of Thessaly. The amounts will be credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts on Tuesday, April 2, due to the bank system’s holiday. In a context of close cooperation with the region of Thessaly, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection proceeds to pay the second cycle of first aid concerning, in particular, farmers and farmers. Up to now, 15,18 million euros have been paid to 2,765 applicants, while the process has been completed for 6,546 applicants, as the others have either received the 50% advance of state aid, or it emerges – from the figures of committees and state aid stages of the region – that they do not belong to the beneficiary perimeter for additional amounts. The payments will continue in the following weeks, following the flow of data from the region of Thessaly, which has been strengthened. At the same time, the provision of the 50% advance on state aid to farmers and farmers that can reach up to 200,000 euros per farmer or farmer is also progressed. And we continue in close cooperation with all,” noted the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for the restoration of natural disasters and state aid, Christos Triantopoulos. A total of EUR 15,183,000 has been paid to 2,765 farms and livestock farms, including EUR 13,757,000 in 2,531 agricultural holdings and EUR 1,426,000 in 234 livestock farms. The second cycle of first aid was preceded by the first cycle of first aid to agricultural holdings and livestock farms in affected areas corresponding to payments of EUR 41,112,000 to 19,582 cases of farmers and farmers. In sum, therefore, the first and second cycles of first aid for farmers and farmers have been set at EUR 56,295,000. At the same time, the provision of the 50% advance of the planned grant of State aid to agricultural holdings and livestock farms for damage to fixed, freight, equipment, machinery, land capital and other relevant data is also progressed. In particular, up to now, 1,349,955 euros have been allocated to 417 farmers and farmers in Thessaly, with the payments continuing depending on the flow of data from the region of Thessaly, and i.e. the committees and state aid steps of the region of Thessaly. At the same time, in 353 cases of agricultural holdings and livestock farms, the first aid granted was offset by the amount of the 50% advance of the State aid grant. Therefore, the phase of granting the 50% advance of state aid to agricultural holdings and livestock farms has been completed for 770 beneficiaries.
