Ethan Hawke director of the new film “Wildcat” starring Maya Hawke’s daughter

Ethan Hawke and his daughter Maya Hawke, in addition to the father-daughter relationship, collaborate on the new “Wildcat”, as director and protagonist, respectively. The Oscar candidate, Ethan Hawke, makes a new attempt to direct the “Wildcat” era biographical film, following HBO Max’s documentary “The Last Movie Stars”, in which he collaborates with his actress and daughter Maya Hawke. The film tells the life of author Flannery O’Connor, played by Maya Hawk, in the 1950s, as she writes her first novel entitled “Wise Blood”. She recounts the intense relationship with her mother and the battle she fights with the systematic erythematous wolf which she lost at the age of 39. O’Connor died in 1964 and was known primarily for two of her books “The Violent Bear It Away” and “Wise Blood”. “This is an incredibly exciting personality. It’s about how committed and serious a young woman she was, unlike her total paranoid imagination,” says the director for the author. The script also signs Ethan Hawke along with Shelby Gaines while he is among the producers. Maya in addition to the lead role takes on executive producer debts in the film for the first time. Among others are Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Philip Ettinger, Rafael Casal, Steve Zahn, Cooper Hoffman and Vincent D’Onofrio. The film “Wildcat” is expected in American cinemas on May 3.
