ELSTAT: Unemployment fell to 11% in February 2024

At 11%, in our country in February 2024, compared with the revised downwards of 11.2% in February 2023 and the revised upwards of 10.6% in January 2024, according to the Greek Statistical Authority ( ). On the basis of the ElSTAT data, the unemployed amounted to 524,428 people recording a reduction of 283 people compared to February 2023 (0.1%) and an increase of 18,733 people compared to January 2024 (3.7%). In women the unemployment rate rose to 14.2% from 15.2% in February last year and men to 8.4% from 8%. By large age groups, in group 15 to 24 the unemployment rate rose to 25% from 27.6% in February 2023 and at age 25 to 74 to 10.3% from 10.2%. According to the ELSTAT labour force survey, employees rose to 4,228,417 persons, increasing by 76,736 persons compared to February 2023 (1,8%) and a 38,712 reduction compared to January 2024 (0.9%). Finally, persons under the age of 75 who are not included in the labour force, or ‘people outside the labour force’ (people who do not work or seek employment), amounted to 3,034,624 persons, with a reduction of 97,400 persons compared to February 2023 (3,1%) and an increase of 17,617 persons compared to January 2024 (0,6%).
