Eggs for a strong mind!

Due to their content of cholesterol, egg consumption has been blamed for many health problems, but later investigations reveal that the …
consumption of eggs has little effect on the levels of cholesterol in the blood.
In addition, the consumption of eggs seems to stimulate the brain function.
Finnish researchers in their research, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, analyzed the diets 2.497 men aged between 42 and 60 years of age who had been diagnosed with memory disorders.
During a time period of 22 years, 337 of them had some kind of neurological disorder, with the majority of the cases relate to the Άλτσχάιμερ.
The study’s author professor Jyrki Virtanen from the University of Eastern Finland, explains that “neither the cholesterol nor egg consumption was associated with a higher risk of developing dementia or disease of the Άλτσχάιμερ.” The researcher points out that “the intake of eggs was associated with better performance on neuro-psychological tests and exams of executive functionality. The findings suggest that a diet high in cholesterol or frequent consumption of eggs does not increase the risk of memory disorders even in people who have a genetic predisposition”.
Just before the Finnish research a little more research had concluded that the consumption of an egg a day reduces the risk of stroke by 12%.
We note that the egg provides protein of high biological value and is a very good source of selenium, iodine, and vitamin B2 (riboflavin). Also, it has vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, and vitamin D, while the choline it contains are necessary for the synthesis of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the brain.
