In a “war” between them seems to be Google and Microsoft, since the first released of a vulnerability (bug) that was discovered recently in Windows, just 10 days after it has informed the software company for this.
The vulnerability was discovered by Google on October 21. Through this bug, a hacker could gain access to content that would not have had access previously, and according to Google, the vulnerability of this has already begun to “exploit” wide.
This resulted in Google marking the bug as “highly dangerous” and to give Microsoft a margin of 7 days to develop the corrigendum, before the release of the discovery.
As he mentions in an article the british newspaper The Guardian, the reasoning behind such a revelation is partly for superstitious reasons, and partly to punish: it allows other people who use unpatched versions of Windows to be aware of the risk it runs in their system -even if they can’t do anything until the Microsoft dispose of the corrigendum, but is also used to “condemn” publicly the developers for the delay in the development of the patch.
Microsoft replied in a high tone because, as I said, I was given enough time to develop the corrective.
“We believe in coordinated disclosure of a vulnerability and the current revelation from Google is putting their customers in potential danger,” said a representative of Microsoft in website technology VentureBeat.
“Windows is the only platform with a commitment to customers to investigate any security issues and to move proactively to the upgrading of devices that have been infected, as soon as possible. We recommend customers to use Windows 10 and the browser Microsoft Edge for a better protection”.
