The 27-year-old woman, Bulgarian national, reportedly put her hand in the pocket of the 75-year-old man waiting at the stop and stole a wallet containing the 400-euro money and a bank card. The elderly immediately realized the theft and tried to immobilize the 27 – year – old. The woman to get away got on the bus and the 75-year-old followed her. The bus driver who immediately realized what happened speaks to newssit.gr and describes: “I have been working for many years on urban buses and for the last 2.5 months I have been transferred from OASA to Thessaloniki. Yesterday afternoon and while I was working on line 10, at some point I saw the mirrors and the cameras getting upset. People were yelling, and I realized something was wrong. There was a lady running upstairs and a gentleman came up from behind. He immediately closed the doors and there was a heated argument.” “I immobilized the bus just down the street and the gentleman told me his wife stole the wallet that had enough money in it. I kept the door closed, pulled aside as long as I could on the bus to facilitate traffic, informed the center and took the call to continue what I did and called the police. While the doors were closed, the woman was trying to find a way out the back door shouting that the money was hers and that she hasn’t stolen anyone. In fact, several passengers were trying to immobilise it,” the driver says. “The police came very quickly and arrested her and everything had a good ending. The first thing I wanted was to ensure the integrity of everyone on the bus. I showed all I could and luckily everything worked out,” he concludes.
