AADE: High Level bilateral meeting to strengthen customs cooperation between Greece and Turkey

The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (), George Pitsilis, met today (6.3.2024) with the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Turkey, Sezai Ucharmak, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the customs sector between Greece and . The meeting of the Governor of AADE with the Turkish Minister for strengthening customs cooperation between our country and Turkey took place in a hearty climate. They were discussed among others: The Law Enforcement Action Plan including the establishment of joint cooperation teams and joint training of customs officials for scout dog operational readiness and x-ray analysis Upgrading the functioning of the border customs offices of Gardens and Highs Trade facilitation practices such as verifying the certificates of origin issued by the Greek Chambers. ADE Commander George Pitsilis said: “Customs have a primary role in ensuring the supply chain at our borders with Turkey and in achieving economic growth through trade facilitation. We work closely with our neighbours in order to increase our effectiveness in the fight against smuggling and contribute to the development of our economic relations with Turkey.”
