The day set is the 5th of September every year. The aim of this anniversary is the awareness of the public and of stakeholders on the problems faced by people with mobility problems.
The spinal cord injuries is a broader term that refers to neurological damage of the spinal cord after traumatic or pathological causes. Depending on the location of the damage, we can differentiate between patients with tetraplegia (damage to the cervical spine) and in patients with paraplegia (lesion below the cervical spine).
The address of the person with a lesion in the spinal cord (NM) is multidisciplinary and requires the cooperation of many agencies and special health-care professionals (physicians of various specialties , physicians specializing in Physical Rehabilitation Medicine, nurses, physiotherapists , psychologists, social workers, etc.).
The psychological burden of individuals with lesion of the CORD is huge . Training is required of these individuals in the management of everyday life in order to ensure and maintain a level of life. This requires sustained effort and support from the close environment but also the state.
Access to health services and social services should be completely feasible. A world hospitable to people with paraplegia or tetraplegia, it is also welcoming to every citizen and can meet the need of any disability.
In 2017 it will be available to an International Questionnaire for people with regional government’ (International SCI Survey) common for all countries, with the purpose of the collection of official data and statistics, which will grant you the policy the next day.
