Today February 15 is St. Ονησίμου of the apostle (†109). St. Eusebius (d. p.). Witness Μαΐωρος, Saint Anthimos (Βαγιάνου) in Χίω († 1960)…
Saint Onesimus
St. Onesimus was a slave in the house of the Roman master, Philemon, who became a christian by the Apostle Paul and he was acting like a father to his servants. However, the Onesimus, after he embezzled money from the house of the lord, he escaped and went to Rome where not having a job, found himself in a very difficult position. Then he remembered the debates in the house of the lord of the christians, whom he approached, and from them which was informed that the Apostle Paul, from whom so much had been impressed, he was in Rome. Decides to take advantage of the opportunity to meet the Apostle, from whom he was taught the orthodox faith. O Onesimus was devoted to the ministry of the apostle and the brethren of the christians. After the martyrdom of the apostle Paul, the saint was arrested and exiled. In exile, however, the Onesimus, he continued zealously to preach the word of God, and when the governor Τερτύλλος visited the scene of the exile and informed of the christian’s action, ordered the arrest of the holy, and to be tortured. After terrible tortures, the saint handed over the holy soul as a Witness of the church.
