Within summer projects of EUR 900 million are auctioned to restore the road network of Thessaly

a budget of 900m euros to restore it to the affected areas of Thessaly and Central Greece will be auctioned during the summer, as the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Infrastructure, Nikos Tahias, said during his tour of Karditsa regional unit. As Nikos Tachiaos pointed out, it is until the end of June that the tender issues have been completed and in summer contracts with contractors for road networks have been signed. “We are here to prioritise projects according to the needs of local communities,” he noted. In particular, regarding the projects of Karditsa Prefecture, Nikos Tachiaos pointed out that they would absorb an important part of the overall budget, which amounts to 900 million euros for the regional units of Thessaly. Special emphasis will be placed on the mountain Karditsa, which has suffered the greatest damage. During his tour Nikos Tachiaos accompanied by the engineering team of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation visited the affected villages and met with Mayors of Mousakiou, Theofani Stathi, Palamas, Socrates Daskalopoulos and Sofiades, Demosthenes Katsis and other representatives of the Local Government. With them he discussed the projects to be included in the definitive list of infrastructure rehabilitations damaged by the ‘Daniel’ and ‘Elias’ phenomena, but also more generally the problems of the region, which has suffered the greatest damage to private property. As part of his visits to the affected areas, the State Secretary for Infrastructure will go in the next few days to Fthiotida and Northern Evia, where he will meet with the relevant bodies of Local Government.
