With the camera shaking… [A movie milestone in the history of cinema]

It was 1999 when it was the Blair Witch Project in theaters, causing a stir in the φιλοθεάμον public. In this movie we follow a group of students that are starting to come back a…
documentary around the legend of a witch who is said to live in a forest of the American countryside.
The groundbreaking of filming with cameras handycam in the form of a documentary (referred to as a faux documentary and mocking), the amazing marketing that preceded the movie but the scenario of pushing the film to the heights, making it one of the best horror movies ever.
The way of filming with the constant shaking and the sudden switch of plans offered an unprecedented realism to the film as nothing seemed staged(at the same time, however, he offered several “turbulence” to the viewers). This way of filming has gained many fans worldwide(but and fanatic enemies) and the technique was followed by several authors most of whom may not have had the necessary money for their work so this was an easy and cheap way to make their creation a reality.
In this way, were filmed a couple of insurmountable horror movies such as Rec 1 and 2 in 2007 and 2009 respectively by the Spanish director Jaume Balaguero. The scenario of these two films has to do with the quarantine that enters an apartment building in Spain, as well as as it turns out the tenants of the building have been transformed into zombies because of an evil that is in the building. Blood, action realism to the heights they have as a final result of two of the best thrillers of the European cinema.
In 2007 and 2010 we have a film series Paranormal Activity, (soon will come a third movie). The case concerns the existence of a demonic existence in the house where resides a young couple. The first part of the series made a big splash in the cinemas while it is worth to report that they released different finale in the distribution. The second film starts as a prequel of the first, and in the end evolves like continuation of the first film.
In 2010, we have the release of The Last Exorcism’s case it has something to do with a priest in America who decides to take on a case of exorcism somewhere in the South of the United States a film crew. If the priest is convinced that the case of exorcism is the result of disorders that are not άπτωνται of religion, things don’t evolve eventually as the wait(unfortunately for him). Unsurpassed scenes of the film the stunts for the lead actress who has taken from him out of here, and the finale of the movie with the chase of the reporters in the forest.
To end this small tribute to the films that have been shot in the documentary form I would like to mention one generation that comes to us from Australia. The name of The Tunnel was filmed in 2011 and refers to the story of a tv crew that goes down in the underground tunnels of Sydney for a story and discovers some of the creatures that inhabit the tunnels that feed on human flesh. Intensely claustrophobic shots, great suspense and the adrenaline rush are the main features of this thriller.
As a conclusion I would like to say that this kind of movies you either love or hate. I belong to the first category as I think that the way in which we make these films really go to the movies one step too beyond and without this point of view filming, maybe a lot of them were just θριλεράκια of the series. Final conclusion…see the and for good and for bad take any dramamine.
