With actions 38m euros they plan anti-pyrotic zones in Evros, Evia, Chalkida, Messinia, Laconia

A large competition in both budget and mainly in importance for the anti-pyrotic shielding of areas of Greece through the creation of mixed related protection zones, in public and forest areas on either side of the forest, promotes TAIPED, on behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Energy. The purpose of the contract is the preparation of the study and the implementation of the project “Creation of Mixed Anti-Pyre Zones on forest roads of P.E. Evia, Evros, Messinia and Laconia of the responsibility for Aliverios Forests, Istiaia, Lake, Chalkida, Didymoteicho, Kalamata, Sparta and Kyparissia”, estimated at EUR 38.4 million (VAT). The action is subdivided into eight sections concerning the Aliverios, Istiaia, Lake, Chalkida, Didymotichou, Kalamata, Sparta and Kyparissia Forests. Among other things, work on land rehabilitation, excavations, tree and shrub pruning, logging-related services, transportation of logs and trees within the forest, logging services, forestry services, forest management services, Digital Mapping services, etc. The project is implemented under the National Recovery and Durability Plan “Greece 2.0” with the funding of the European Union. In what way, however, was the selection of the above areas made at this stage? According to TAIPED and the relevant invitation to tender, geographical criteria were taken into account, for example, that the areas where the work will be carried out extend to a wide geographical range, to different Forest Services belonging to different regional units, with different climatic conditions, morphological conditions, vegetation conditions, etc. Especially for the forest roads of the P.E. Evia in areas of responsibility of the Aliverio, Istia, Lake and Chalkida Forests was considered appropriate to subdivide them into these 4 sections, taking into account the volume of the natural object, the location of these operations in neighbouring areas and the limited timetable for their execution. Also, with the proposed grouping, the responsible assess that more efficient, more flexible, easy management of the project is achieved in a technical sense and in terms of combining the required tasks and time limits. In this way the delivery of the project for all areas is made possible within the contractual period, which takes into account the anti-fire period of 2024, while resources are saved. In addition, the proposed grouping of operations by segment contributes to the achievement of the narrow timetables and horizons (an indication of temporary contractors), provided for by the Durability Recovery Fund, while ensuring the widest possible participation of economic operators in the award of the contract relating to the smaller sub-areas.
