When schools close for Easter and when they open again

In a few days March ends and we enter the final line for it, so several students and parents are looking for when they will close the holidays. This year, Easter falls on May 5, while the Lord’s Great Week of Passions begins on April 29 (Great Monday). So the last day the students go to school before Easter holidays is Friday, April 26, 2024. The students will rest for two weeks of his obligations, while they are due to return to the school halls on Monday, May 13, 2024, immediately after the Week of the Redevelopment, beginning on Easter Sunday and ending on the next Sunday of Thomas (12 May). At the same time, we should point out that this year there are some amendments to the programme of secondary school students in the light of the examinations and the European elections. Primary schools and kindergartens close on Friday, June 14, 2024 before summer holidays and on the last day it is customary to hold a musical dance event. Last year, classes in Gymnasium were completed on 30 May and promotional and diploma exams were completed on 15 June. This year, however, the European elections (June 9th) will also be held, so schools that are polling centres will be closed from Friday, June 7th and Monday, June 10th. Thus, for Gymnasiums, in which examinations are conducted from 1 to 15 June, there are only five days available for seven courses of which two branches (double courses, Ancient language plus Ancient translation and language plus literature). Therefore, there is a high chance that the Ministry of Education will announce the end of courses for this year earlier than 30 May, so that the promotional and diploma exams will begin earlier than 1 June. If last year’s program and Gymnasiums are observed they will close on Friday, May 17th, then after Easter holidays there remains less than a week of courses, as the final day students are given the exam schedule. Finally, it is recalled that Panhellenic 2024 are due to begin on Thursday 30th May for the candidates of Professional High School (EPAL) to compete in New Greek. On Friday, May 31, the candidates of General Schools (GEL) with Modern Greek Language and Literature begin.
