WHAT IS THE UNIT HOSPITALITY unaccompanied minors REFUGEES AGIASOS LESVOY “VILLA AZADI “;;;;

(Title) According to a workers’ Hospitality Unit Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Agiasos Lesbos “Villa Azadi”, on July 10 ended the programming convention whereby the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, the Institute of Social Welfare Agiasos “The Mother of God” and a non-profit “ILIAKTIDA” Unit operating Hospitality Unaccompanied Refugee Children in the last two years.
The new program contract is unsigned in one of the offices of ministries, like and the need for European funding can make it viable to operate a plant for the next period, while the Foundation “Mother of God” is no longer able to cover any financial gaps.
The result of bureaucratic bottlenecks characterize public life has immediate humanitarian and social impact as well:

60 unaccompanied minor refugees, ie 60 children with special and complex needs (psycho-social, medical, legal) live in an empty building, wondering how in Afghanistan, Turkey and the Greek detention centers (eg detention center Pagani) were alone and unprotected, 4 km north of Lesvos Agiasos

16 total employees / workers, ie support staff and the multidisciplinary team composed of highly trained and qualified professionals, dismissed (07/11/1910) – no prediction about what will – and are forced to discontinue the provision of specialized services to unaccompanied minors.

The unit staff has made a tremendous effort and personal excesses in these two years for the operation of the unit, expressing anxiety about “tomorrow” of the 60 children housed in B-complex of the Foundation “The Mother of God”, but and stay at work all the skilled workers of the Unit. The cynicism of the President of the Foundation, Mr. Psyrouki, who said on Monday 13/7/2010 in the Aegean that several NRA worked by employees, can not be accepted, even more so in this case that specialized staff who worked so the hostel is now necessary to continue this work.

· Because this unit is unique in Lesvos and standards, and in recent years has the human and cultural counterweight to the galley Pagani
· measures of the government due to financial crisis may not be an excuse for breaking up any welfare structure

· a democratic, civilized society must care of vulnerable groups, especially minors

Will the Minister
1. Be signed immediately, and when a new program contract to avoid institutional gaps and disturbance of the plant;
2. We promptly completed the evaluation process the funding application lodged with the European Refugee Fund and the competent Ministry;
3. We made the renewal of contracts of existing qualified staff of the Unit in order to ensure quality of service;
