Web portal for women’s entrepreneurship in E.E.

Friday 30/09/2016 was held with great success in Brussels the kick-off event for the operation of the…
portal for the promotion of female entrepreneurship in the E.E. entitled WE-gate.
The website http://wegate.eu/ provides access to essential information and support to women who are making the first steps, looking for sources of funding, have an immediate need for a specialised counselling and/or training, in order to run successfully their business or/and to enlarge the scope of their business.
In addition, it provides the possibility to exchange good practices and information on relevant events, but also for the evolutionary course of european policy pertaining to the entrepreneurship.
Commonplace of the speeches was the recognition for the disappointingly low rate of female presence in the total population of the Member-States, active in the field of business, which makes it a multi-layered support of female entrepreneurship in the thematic high priority on the political agenda of Europe.
Also, emphasis was given to the characteristics of obstacles facing women entrepreneurs, as well as the european experience shows that women have more difficulty than men in attracting capital, are principally engaged in more traditional sectors and, more rarely, take advantage of the new technologies.
At the same time, the daily experience of the struggle for the reconciliation of family /private and professional life, while for the last word was stressed, in particular, the importance of care for social design for the benefit of the female population in the context of the wider national and european policies.
In addition, reference was made to the Pan-european Contest to Reward Business Innovation of Women (EU PRIZE for WOMEN INNOVATORS 2017), which expires on November 3, 2016 (relevant link: https://ec.europa.eu/research/innovation-union/pdf/women-innovators/wip_prize_110x155mm_postcard_2017.pdf ).
The representation of the General Secretariat of Gender Equality (C.C.I. F) in this organization worked as a real opportunity for information and networking with representatives bodies of the Member – States, but also for face-to-face exchange of information and views with members of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship & Small and medium-sized Enterprises (WES – the European Network for the Promotion of Female Entrepreneurship).
Moreover, the C.C.I. F. support over time the women’s entrepreneurship at national and european level, taking advantage of every opportunity for networking and cooperation for the promotion of equality between women and men.
Finally, it is worth noting that the impact of the activity of the ΓΓΙΦ is reflected in the laudatory comments by the European Commission for the professionalism and consistency of the sovereign equality of the sexes.
