Wages increased by 5.5% in the fourth quarter of 2023

It recorded a 5.5% increase in the wage index as a whole, except for the primary sector and household activities, in the last quarter of 2023, without any correction (seasonal or correction of the number of working days), compared to the corresponding period of 2022 , according to its figures . While in the corresponding period of 2022, the wage cost index had increased 7% over 2021, ElSTAT’s figures show. Even the wage cost index , with seasonal correction but without correction for the number of working days, shows an increase of 5.5% compared to the corresponding index of the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to an increase of 6.8% in the corresponding comparison in 2022 to 2021. While the wage cost index, with a correction for the number of working days but without seasonal correction, shows a 6% increase compared to the corresponding index of the fourth quarter 2022, compared with a 6.4% increase in the corresponding comparison in 2022 to 2021.
