Violent protests in Mexico against the increase of petrol – Dead a police officer

riots broke out on the occasion of the increase in the price of gasoline.
The officer lost his life trying to prevent a robbery at a gas station in Mexico City, during one of the violent protests. One colleague is hospitalized in critical condition after he was injured in another area of the city, announced by the police authorities of the capital.
In the capital, were 29 robberies and vandalism, and 76 people were arrested.
In the State of Mexico, where there were the most violent riots, the arrested individuals reach their 430. Manuel Cardona, responsible of the national federation of merchants, requested the intervention of federal forces or even the army, because the situation is out of control” in many States.
In the City of Mexico have been developed over 9,000 officers who are supported in their work by 13 helicopters and 20, 000 surveillance cameras.
The price of petrol increased by 20.1% and of diesel by 16.5% from 1 January. Mexican president Enrique Pena Νιέτο justified the Wednesday these increases describing them as “responsible measure” due to the increase in the price of oil internationally.
