Ukraine requested anti-aircraft through NATO after Russian attacks on energy infrastructure

Ukraine asked during the NATO Council’s extraordinary meeting – its western allies to supply it with anti-aircraft instruments, following the wave of its missile attacks on critical energy infrastructure in the country. Last Friday (22.03.2024) Russia made the largest air raids on Ukraine’s energy system since the invasion began in February 2022, causing damage to power plants in the largest dam and causing power cuts in several areas in which more than one million people reside. The Ukrainian mission told platform X (formerly twitter) that Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov informed partners after the attacks, urging them to provide more equipment to face upcoming attacks. Moscow described recent attacks as part of a series of “respondence” attacks on Kiev’s attacks on areas in Russia and increased the use of ballistic missiles that are more difficult to intercept.
