Ukraine: Ramstein continues to support her – Present and Nikos Dendias

Their determination to continue to support her, Boris Pistorius’ Defence Minister and his American counterpart Lloyd Austin reaffirmed, after the end of the meeting of the “Ramstein Project”, in which Ukraine’s Defence Minister also participates. Defence Minister Nikos Dendias participated in the meeting. “The U.S. and the free world will not allow Ukraine to fail,” Austin stressed, addressing Ukraine’s defence minister Rusten Umerov, while Germany’s defence minister announced a new package of military support for Ukrainian armed forces of 500m euros, including the mission of ammunition and armoured infantry vehicles. The head of the Pentagon also stressed for his part that Ukraine’s defence expenditure is “investment in our common security” and added: “Let’s not be fooled. Putin will not settle for Ukraine. Ukraine, however, can stop Putin, if we stand by her side and offer her the weapons she needs for her defense,” referring to recent US President Joe Biden’s statement. Ukraine’s survival “is in danger and the safety of all of us is at stake,” Lloyd Austin said and assured that Ukraine would be supported by its partners in order to create its future army, for its long-term security, and also spoke of the prospect of cooperation between more countries to develop weapons systems. Referring to the so far losses of Russian forces in Ukraine, Lloyd Austin spoke of 315,000 soldiers who have lost their lives since the beginning of the war, pointing out that “Russia has paid a high price for Putin’s imperialist dreams”.
