Ukraine admits that the situation is difficult on the eastern front

The chief of the armed forces of Alexandr Sirski admitted today that the situation is “difficult” on the eastern front, where her forces continue their attack, unlike other zones where their action has declined significantly, as she says. “The operational situation on the east front remains difficult,” Shirski said in a post on Telegram, adding that he went himself to the “field of operations”, in the zone where there is “a threat of Russia’s advance in depth”, without other clarifications. “The enemy continues to conduct aggressive actions, focusing his efforts on the zones of Terni, Ivanifske, Berndichi, Tonenke, Verbove and Robotine,” Shirski added, accompanying his posting with photographs along with soldiers on the battlefield. “At the same time, probably because of the major losses, enemy action in other front zones has been significantly reduced,” he added. Ukraine’s president Volontimir Zelenski assured on Monday, in an interview he gave to French media, that Russia’s advance “stopped” on the eastern front and that the situation now is “much better” than it was three months ago. Immediately after the occupation, in mid-February, of the city of Avdivika, after four months of fierce fighting, Russian forces quickly understood several villages to the west of this city. But since early March Russian attacks appear to have been reduced and Moscow has only announced the occupation of the Nevelske settlement, in the south-west of Avdivka, on Tuesday. The representative of the Ukrainian army in this area today denied the occupation of Nevelske, confirming that the Ukrainians still have it under their control. “In two weeks of fierce fighting, the enemy suffered very great losses. However, all communities he was trying to understand remain under our control,” General Sirski also said.
