U.S.: Salos with Sumer seeking elections in Israel – Biden “vacuees” Him, an angry Tel Aviv reaction

Chamos has been caused by statements by U.S. Senate chief Chuck Schumer, who advocated holding elections in , with the government responding angryly. Schumer, who has long been a supporter of Israel and is the highest-ranking Jewish elected official, said before the Senate that the Netanyahu government “does not fit Israel’s needs anymore.” The State Department rushed to position itself making it clear that Sumer’s statements echo his own views rather than President Joe Biden’s American government. Trying to keep distance from Schumer’s comments, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the American Congress is operating independently of the government. When asked whether there is any sort of discomfort in the ranks of the American government towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Miller stressed: “There are many things we wanted to see Israel do differently”. Responding directly to Netanyahu’s Likud party responded sharply saying that Israel “is not a banania”. Israeli Finance Minister Bezall Smotrich, leader of the far-right party of Religious Zionism, said the US should respect Israeli democracy.
