The measures are part of the Strategic Planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters and include full and continuous activity of all Traffic Services and in particular: policing of the road network by sector, on the basis of the specific traffic conditions of each area, increased police presence and enhanced policing of road traffic points, where there is a frequency of road accidents, increased traffic measures at the entrances-outputs of large urban centres, where there is a large traffic traffic, regulation of pedestrian traffic, in key crossings, in order to avoid traffic congestion, increased traffic jams in areas where there is mass traffic (airports, stations, stations, etc.), traffic arrangements at locations that will take place parades and festive events, the presence of traffic barriers to traffic, information and advice to drivers and passengers and passengers and information to the public via the press offices, in the presence of traffic and other traffic problems. At the same time, particular attention will be given to the certification of dangerous offences, as well as infringements based on statistical data responsible for causing serious traffic accidents. To this end garages of specific traffic controls will be active at alternating points of the road network, focusing, inter alia, on infringements such as: driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, not using protective helmets – safety belt, irregular double line bypasses and crossings, etc., non-use of special means of restraint and protection, such as seats, safety belts, etc., when transporting children by vehicles, driving vehicles by minors and persons who do not have a driving licence, driving for demonstration of competence, traffic, which have not been subject to regular or exceptional technical control within the prescribed time limit, worn tires and irregular movement of vehicles in the Emergency Strip (L.E. A.). Throughout the implementation of the measures, they will be in increased operational readiness, both the staff and the means of the Greek Police, especially the Police Traffic Services. In particular, patrol cars, motorcycles and conventional vehicles will be available, with the corresponding personnel and equipment to effectively police the country’s road network. It is noted that during the festive season, the bans on the movement of trucks of a maximum authorised weight of more than 3.5 tonnes will apply.
