Thessaloniki: Free of 49 AUTH arrested – Their trial postponed

Moments of tension at the entrance of the courts in … The trial of 49 arrested by the police operation at the Faculty of Positive Sciences of the AUTH was postponed, while everyone was released. After the prosecution against them for serious disruption of the functioning of a legal person governed by public law (AEI) and disobedience (48 of the 49 refused to be subjected to a dactyloscopic examination), the defendants were indicted for trial, under the self-evident procedure, at the one-member Athens Court of Appeal. The trial in Autophorus was postponed due to absence of witnesses and the court postponed the case for 29 March, lifting (of course) the detention of all 49 defendants (ages 19 to 30 and between them 31 men and 18 women). Outside the courts of Thessaloniki, people were gathered in support of the arrested. Mother of one of the arrested said that “the children are persecuted in an unthinkable way. My son is an aristocrat” he stressed in front of the cameras and continued: “What happened was a blow to our democracy and country.” A separate investigation of the weapons and flares detected and included in the file, the Greek Police, has been ordered.
