The valley of Acheloos: Monuments, fishing, and swimming at an altitude of 700 meters

Karditsa. Fishing and swimming in the river at 700 meters altitude, settlements were springing up through the firs, religious monuments and historic sites, complete a navigation guide, which is worth to follow the visitor.
The area, located about 65 km from the towns of Arta, Karditsa, from the city of Agrinio Karpenisi, but the natural beauty of the route, “annihilates” the distances.
The river Achelous, the locals call and Aspropotamos the White, because the water running over white pebbles. Between the slopes of the mountains to the historic load, the river forms a “small beaches”, which always give breaths of coolness to the residents of the villages and, in particular, in the last few years are, the meeting point of the emigrant, where each summer they return with their families. The images in the river, reminiscent of a tropical beach somewhere.
It is the favorite destination of young people who live in the rest of Greece and abroad and every year they give there the summer date. In fact, this year formed, and the band of the Acheloos river, entertained with a river party, and other musical events.
Antonis Κοσυβάκης, who hails from the village of Tinos the region and living and working for many years in Brussels, spoke to ana-MPA, for the effort made in the last few years, to illustrate the advantages of the Valley for a sustainable development.
Many personalities from Europe have talked about the area and have visited in the framework of workshops for the development of as the president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, the commissioner for Development Corina Crețu, the former prime minister of France Michel Rocard, and members of parliament.
In fact, as he points out, the valley of the river Acheloos, in addition to the natural beauty, has a culture that needs to be highlighted and to give life to the scene, to highlight it as a destination for alternative and religious tourism.
