The night of new year’s Eve, Sfakianos guard of the cargo ship “Sophia T.” Uh. ΜπÏαουδάκης at the age of just 18 years of age together with the help of two young friends stole his little floating “George” from the port of Piraeus, with the intention to travel to Africa!
The ΜπÏαουδάκης, however, seem to have a arrange for everything. He had stocked the boat with fuel, which previously had transported secretly by the “Wisdom T”. If not, what else besides the fuel didn’t miss the food, the cigarettes and navigational instruments.
The back of the Sfakianos navigator left a letter for them which they would see later in the feat, explaining the reason for the act.
The letter
“Now that we see that we are the best youth of our life, we see the lives crying instead of laughing. Of course, we have something obligations toward the fatherland. But once if you can help us the luck will pay off. As for the Turks and the English. Alas though sometimes found in the bow will take care of them. We’re sailors. As for the ship I’ll return it. Good-bye and a happy new year.”
If nothing else, immediately mobilized the coast guard of the country for the identification of would-be navigators.
Ended up in Chania
A few days later after investigations it was found that the floating “George” sailed to Chania. There have been identified two of the three where arrested.
The Ship’s log
The “Agriculture” sailed from Piraeus with direction to Hydra island and from there to Naples, where he made a stop for supplies. There, the three would-be sailors provided food, and then departed for the island of Kythera with the purpose of to arrive in North Africa. Unfortunately, however, the ΜπÏαουδάκης miscalculated fuel and had to sail to Chania for you to obtain where, however, they were spotted and arrested them.
What supported the architect Sfakianos
My decision, I said to the other two. Metaxas and the ΠεÏιτζή. The first, however, disagreed and insisted that we continue on our journey. Metaxas had a serious reason that he didn’t want to approach in Chania. He had been sentenced for theft three years of probation and was afraid that I was arrested and sent to jail. Though he insisted, I managed to talk him out of it with the threat of a knife and being stranded boat to a deserted place in Chania.
Metaxas has just landed in Chania, abandoned his friends, and for some days were specifically sought out by the authorities. I finally tracked him down two days after the arrest of his friends, in a hotel of Piraeus.
