The new institution of the Open People’s University in Maroussi, by the standards of Open Popular University Crete, was inaugurated by the Mayor of Amaroussion, President of KEDE, mr. George Patoulis, the… full of students of the first course, the hall of the Municipal Council, on Monday 26 September 2016.
The aim of the cooperation with the Open Popular University Crete, under the auspices of KEDE, is the promotion of Lifelong Learning and Education, that meets the fixed asset and long-standing demand of the “Second Chance” of the inhabitants, in times where the knowledge Society is constantly evolving and the demands for ever increasing.
The Mayor, mr. George Patoulis, welcomed in the Municipality of athens is the President of the Open People’s University mrs. Eleni Βουγιούκαλου, students and political strategist, professor, Media Communications mr. Andreas Theodorakopoulos, under the supervision of which will work the first round of courses: “The art of communication in personal and professional relationships”.
Referring to the art of proper communication mr. Patoulis referred to the dictum of the Russian writer Anton Chekhov: “knowledge has no value unless you apply it somewhere,” noting that “starting from ourselves and becoming examples of good communication or challenge positive results, we gain a more functional community and a more safe society.”
In a time – added – “that the conditions of life hinder effective communication in all relationships, personal, family work, despite the great flow of information, frameworks and systems, let’s make an effort to get to the bottom.”
In closing, mr. Patoulis noted that “the establishment of the ALP, on one hand, provides the right of access of all citizens to knowledge, throughout the duration of their life, on the other hand, contributes to the shaping of the concept that informed citizens, responsible, active and useful citizens both for themselves and for their land.”
The President of the Open People’s University mrs. Eleni Βουγιούκαλου also applauded the operation of the department of Maroussi, while at the event present were the deputy Mayor of Culture and Sports mrs. Rena Χαλιώτη.
