The Music School of Alimos “broke” with music in the wall of shame in Germany

In Germany and particularly in Munich built the wall of shame to separate the locals from 160 young refugees who have…
have been installed in the area. The wall of hatred exceed 3,65 meters and has begun to be built in the suburb of Neurperlach of Munich. While the trend of racism and xenophobia becomes visible within Europe, there are bright examples (not exceptions) that send messages of solidarity and humanity. Such is the example of the music school of Alimos found this time in the “heart of the monster”.
Contacted them on Thursday, November 24, and in particular with professor of classical guitar Dimitris Arvanitidis. Returning to the boat in Greece. Dimitris Αρβανιτίδης made us known the act of solidarity of students taken from the boy of their dreams, played with the best instruments.
The music school of Alimos was a guest of the community, of Palladium and from the consulate to give a concert for the refugee in the “house of artists” where in this have played a lot of great artists. The kids at the time who were giving the concert, was streamed audiovisual material, films of Angelopoulos and photos of well-known photojournalists such as mr Μπεχράκη.
The students from Greece, still, had expressed their desire to engage in an act of solidarity, by playing music on the wall of shame in Munich! In the beginning, as we informed mr. Αρβανιτίδης was negative but then called the deputy minister of foreign affairs, mr Amanatidis who contacted the consulate and got permission to play on the wall on 22 November.

“The voices tearing down the wall. Friends from Greece,” writes the banner left by the students on the wall of shame (photo).
“We played pieces of Helen Καραϊνδρου and Manos Hadjidakis at the time the Bulldozers building the wall. It was a shocking image. It really gave me the chills. We felt awe, that we have given to the music of us against the wall, against the border,” says professor Dimitris Αρβανιτίδης.
“By the time we were playing music, the bulldozers building the wall. It was creepy”
“This act shows that kids engaged for a year with this program they don’t learn just music, but aware at the same time. Anyway, it was the same who proposed the action at the wall.”
“It was impossible to see the refugee children. There was no visual contact with them”
The music school of Alimos is known to participate in various actions of solidarity. Last year they played for the minors in the prisons of Avlona, while they intend to play for the women prisoners in Korydallos Prison
As σημείωνει mr. Αρβανιτίδης “we’re looking for places to do concerts and to raise awareness of the world. Our band is called “Nostos” why we long for our dreams. Children travelling by these dreams, ‘ says mr Αρβανιτίδης
