General Affairs council.E., he noted: “The latest developments in the EU and in the wider european neighbourhood (british referendum, an attempted coup d’état in Turkey) have increased political instability and have created a variety of points of tension. We need to read correctly these developments and to try to organize the european response, particularly in view of the repeated presidential elections in Austria and the referendum in Hungary”.
He continued, stressing that the repeat election in Austria of risk to elected right-wing President, and the referendum in Hungary, in the case of a positive outcome for the government, of Budapest, means that it can be questioned decision of the European Council with internal referendum of a country.
As noted in the notice of the ministry of Foreign affairs, the agenda of the Council, held today in Bratislava, included: (a) the assessment of the implementation of the Strategic Agenda of the European Council and the redefining of priorities to accelerate the implementation of the goals and b) finding ways to improve the communication strategy.E., with the aim of halting the euroscepticism and the centrifugal trends in the Union, and expressed the result of the british referendum.
In his speech, mr FOR made reason for τεχνικοποίηση of EU policy, stating that the political problems become technical, there is a kind of jargon.E., which is incomprehensible to the general public, and instead to solve the problems the politicians themselves, who have the democratic legitimacy, trying to solve the euro-bureaucrats.
Upholding the community method vs. intergovernmentalism, he said: “In such a critical time given the impression that he has lost the bet on the convergence, cohesion and solidarity between the member-states of the EU. So, because you don’t have to be permanently lost these bets, you should stick to the community method and to reject intergovernmentalism. To continue to strive for the communitarisation of the budget as well as for the transfer of surpluses.
Mr FOR made reason for political instability due to the absence of social sign in today’s EU, noting that the image that prevails is that of social fragmentation, with inclusive social classes and impoverishment.
Mr. Xydakis closed his speech by calling for the defence of democracy (République) and the ουδετερόθρησκου state (État laïque).
