According to the UN report on the cultivation and trafficking of drugs, the revenue from trafficking is a big financial incentive for organised criminal groups, which, only through the so-called balkan route, shall ensure that amounts that “touch” the 28 billion dollars a year.
The report refers to the data of 2014, as the latest official figures, according to which in Albania that year were produced 540 tonnes of hashish, while the authorities have traced 551.414 χασίσοδεντÏα.
According to the report, the cultivation and drug trafficking constitute 2.6% of the Gross Domestic Product of Albania, the highest when compared with other developed countries, such as Italy, Germany, England and France, which are the main markets for the consumption of drugs in Europe.
